USAFA FOOTBALL PARKING FUNDRAISER
Each
fall, we have a great opportunity to work in the parking
lot for Falcon's football games. We need up to 16 people
for each home game. This is a great fund-raiser for many
reasons -- it's close to home, there's no inventorying,
setup or cleanup. All we have to do is show up at the
designated time to get a yellow identifying jacket and
assignments. Then we direct traffic to parking spots until
game time. Once the game starts we may tailgate and share
lunch, or watch the game until about the end of third
quarter. At that time we will help to direct traffic safely
out of the stadium. Dates and times are listed in the
Council Newsletter.
We also participate in parking for graduation in the
spring.
Plan ahead and watch for opportunities to help with this
great activity!
CORPORATE COMMUNION
Corporate Communion is a time for Knights to gather,
worship together, and then celebrate fellowship with a
meal. On months with 5 Sundays, Corporate Communion is held
at one of the weekend Masses (see the newsletter for
times). Sir Knights are asked to wear regalia and
participate in the honor guard. All other Knights and their
families are invited to sit together and show unity by
wearing some type of identifying apparel and/or their name
badges. Following Mass, we have a nice meal at a local
restaurant or sometimes at the Parish. Check your
newsletter and put these wonderful gatherings on your
calendar.
TOOTSIE ROLL CAMPAIGN
Every October, the Knights conduct a fund-raising campaign
on behalf of handicapped children. Some wonderful local
merchants allow us to stand near their store entrances,
where we give away Tootsie Roll candy and offer patrons an
opportunity to donate. We have a good time, give away lots
of smiles and candy, and generous folks help us raise
significant $$ for kids. We usually pick two or three local
charities as recipients for the money raised. Check our
newsletter for more details.
PANCAKE
BREAKFAST
-
The first Sunday of most months, there is a pancake
breakfast sponsored by the Knights, after all the morning
masses. The main purpose is to support the Parish in this
social activity. New members who register with the Parish
receive a free breakfast, and prices are very economical
for everyone else.
-
Council 9993 sponsors the months Sept. through May, and
the Assembly sponsors the summer months of June, July,
and August. All Knights are invited to participate in
preparing and serving a delicious breakfast to our
parishioners and guests.
OTHER
ACTIVITIES
-
The Knights support the parish and community in a variety
of ways, such as helping with the
parish picnic
or other parish activities. Often when there’s
chillin’ and grillin’ to do, such as at
Oktoberfest, the Knights are there.
-
We are pro-life and pro-family, and support activities
such as the Respect Life Crafters, who craft baby
blankets for unwed mothers.
-
We support our youth who are and altar servers or are in
the Scouting program. Knights have contributed funds
and/or labor for several Eagle projects benefiting the
Parish, such as the Rachel prayer garden and the Jared
Jensen Memorial.
-
The annual Free Throw contest to benefit our
youth.
-
The media kiosk at the rear of the church with pamphlets
and CDs to grow our faith.
-
Knights are involved in almost all parish
ministries.
-
We also have social activities, such as the marriage vow
renewal dinner or our Christmas party.
-
The whole idea is to BE INVOLVED, and you will get back
more than you give!
